Usually it is taught in a 121 setting with home practice suggestions between visits.
Everyone, regardless of age or fitness, can enjoy and benefit from a well balanced yoga practice, whether you are recovering from illness or injury or have limited mobility or energy. There is always something you can do. Yoga can be very helpful when applied intelligently and progressively.
In our initial session we will spend time reviewing your aims and current health picture, any previous experience in yoga, movement-based activities, or meditative practices and your lifestyle and relevant interests. We then work together to develop a suitable starting point that you can begin to practice regularly at home.
This approach allows for more in-depth feedback and guidance, and adaptations can enable you to gain more from your practice.
Lessons are usually held at Bristol Yoga Space in Bishopston, Bristol. There is a car park for you to use if you are driving, bike parking or easy access by bus and we are just off Gloucester Road. Equipment is provided. Appointments are in the daytime, in between timetables classes.
Zoom sessions are also possible.

The training to teach yoga therapeutically is far beyond the usual teacher training that most yoga teachers undertake. I trained initially for four years with Paul Harvey (well beyond the average 6-month yoga teacher training program). The training was in-depth to enable careful application of the wide range of yoga practices available.
The training included Yoga and Ayurveda and exploring a wide range of conditions, injuries and illnesses. I've been working therapeutically with clients since 2008 with a wide range of people, including those with back pain, anxiety and depression, digestive disorders, menstrual problems, recovery for athletes, and providing supportive practices to those with chronic life limiting conditions.
