Clara Lemon
I've been practising yoga since 1999 and love how much it has to offer our modern lifestyles at every level. I first started practising yoga to help me feel better while juggling a busy and pretty stressful lifestyle. Yoga helped me to feel calm and relaxed at the start of a hectic day, and physically I felt stronger and had much more energy.
Yoga style
My yoga teaching style is practical and down-to-earth, friendly and relaxed using primary viniyoga and dynamic hatha yoga postures. I introduce yoga postures step-by-step, provide focused breathing techniques and also introduce the wider aspects of yoga.
I've explored different yoga traditions including Iyengar yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Viniyoga and general hatha yoga. The yoga approach that I have studied in depth and teach is a dynamic form of hatha yoga known as viniyoga which has an emphasis on maximising each posture by adjusting it to each person's capability and working with the breath. This personalised approach to yoga is why classes are kept quite small.
Yoga training
I qualified for my yoga teaching and therapy diploma under Paul Harvey and still continue to take yoga tuition with him. The teaching and therapy qualification was an extensive four year course which covered yoga practice, yoga therapy, yoga philosophy and yoga psychology.
I currently practice and teach yoga, yoga therapy and pregnancy yoga. I have also established Yoga Space, a dedicated yoga studio near Park Street in Bristol.
Yoga qualifications
I'm a registered member of the British Wheel of Yoga, the governing body for yoga in the UK which seeks to maintain high quality training standards. I'm also a teaching member of the Association for Yoga Studies. I am also a registered yoga therapist with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.
